Breast Cancer Geospatial
Application:
GE© Healthymagination Challenge
Each year about 200,000 women will be
diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 women will
die. In most cancers, including Breast Cancer, the early
detection is undoubtedly the single most important survival
prognosis factor. The key barrier(s) of early detection can be
hypothesized to be either lack of awareness, or lack of adequate
medical access. VSolvit has identified a simple and effective
potential solution that leverages existing technology and
available data. We intend to identify the geographic areas or
“Cancer Hot Spots” that have a disproportionately higher rate of
late stage cancer (e.g. breast). We firmly believe that focused
educational and/or screening programs efforts targeted on these
cancer hot spots will facilitate earlier detection of breast
cancer – and thereby directly drive improved outcome.
If you agree or buy in to our
approach, please support the VSolvit's submission into GE’s
healthymagination Challenge.
